ANTE TIMMERMANS (1976)
Born in 1976 in Ninove (Belgium), the Belgian artist Ante Timmermans expresses himself in various disciplines, but he is mainly considered a draughtsman.
For Ante Timmermans, drawing is a way of dealing with his environment.
His drawings are traces and lines of thought resulting from a mental search.
The viewer is invited to wander through the language of the drawn image. The artist plays with typography and architecture in his work and also uses old-fashioned devices in his installations (record players, overhead projectors, etc.). The circular motif also plays an important role in his work
As a keen observer of our times, he reflects on the relationship between nature and culture, and develops a representation of the modern city, seen as a ghostly city, a landscape with countless skyscrapers, a no-man's land with dizzying perspectives.
At once poetic, ironic and disenchanted, his work is also a reflection on the importance of language and text in our lives.
